It has a gradient of 1 in 18 (5.5%) throughout 80% of the trip. WebThe history of the Flåm Railway is closely linked to that of the Bergensbanen, the railway between Oslo and Bergen. The ambitious project included some short branch lines that connected the main line to the major fjords of Southern Norway. In 1909, a connection from Bergen and Oslo to the Sognefjord and the Flåm valley began to be planned.
