May 31, 2004 #1 My pool pump motor is running very very slowly and getting hot. the motor turns freely by hand so I assume something has blown on the electric motor (AO smith ). Clean or replace impeller. Note: the normal time for some pumps to prime is 2 to 5 minutes. There is a faulty seal in pump lid gasket. Replace the gaskets and/or tighten bolts between the motor and pump, or lid.
